| | | Yes...quite lovely. Er...3:35. "...transplanted upon the virgin soil blah blah blah..." I guess the footprints left over the previous several thousand years by our First Nations hosts don't count. Otherwise, carry on... [EDIT] Also...the 'Dreaded Mounted Police' thing is wildly amusing. Especially the 'renegade white men' bit. Terribly amusing.

| | | ^ Um, it's like totally dated This was done, like weeks before they started spinning turntables backwards and stuff. Indeed on the commentary, rather shocking really, but high tea at teh Empress, and well, let us not be bothered with such trivialities. Glad you like it YW. So one time, in Band Camp; I mean actually today, in front of Phillips Brewery on the Rue de la Governess there was a hatch. This hatch was open, and I looked, down, down, waaayyy down. At least 12 feet before the ebony liquid, and just beyond, (under the street) was what looked like a wide conduit, probably for sewage, but it ran north south. Any way there was odd three or four inch tubes running down to a round basin full of liquid, and then the cement wall and the stuff under the road. Well worth a look if in the area, no standard padlock, but it looks secured by a city engineers type device.

My ADD likes to kick in once and a while. I was thinking about this earlier: How big are the OLD tunnels downtown? ie, How far do they extend? Not talking about until they hit an obstruction (natural or man-made) but originally, how much tunnel was built? Time frame wise pre 1940/50s when they did major road construction.
| As has been mentioned previously, when the City began to bury telephone lines back int he mid 1900's a lot of the old systems were uncovered. If you can locate any old city workers...not the office wonks (e.g. Archives) but them men who worked at the end of the shovels/pick axes, you may be able to squeeze a few very very very interesting details about these discoveries (hint), and what was done, both officially and unofficially, by the City. Better hurry...these guys retired in the 1960-70's.

| | | Agreed on the professional grade beer tubes KK and YW, but let's be fair, one line for me, and you guys share the other 50/50. I'm a quarter Irish on me Mum's side, so I know waht yer talkin aboot. Just a thought, but maybe the TC archives could have info on various 'discoveries' over the years. There's a story of a room found in the 50's under the intersection of Johnson and Douglas (I think it was those streets) It had at least half a dozen beds, was a place where they could hide people without their papers in order so to speak. Johnson being an old ravine, might have some spaces already there, and the access to the original graveyard from under the bench in the coffee shop (questionable story) at the same intersection. The first graveyard was there though, but the portal under the bench is kinda Being John Malkovich

| | | so me and a friend went out around town to talk to some people and explore a bit, we ended up in fantan talking to some shop owners who up telling us some really usefull things on where to continue our search, we went to the said area of interest and questioned one of the employees of the store about the basement, the employee said there was no basement in the part of the building but let us snoop around through the back of the building without supervision, so what we found werent tunnels but we did come accross several abandon building tucked awaay in the alley of this place, also the the upstairs was completly abandon at this point we went back downstairs and asked the employee if we could go out the back and look around there, they were super friendly and let us do what ever we pleased, at this point we found a low roof and building all around appeared to abandon we went back in the shop and again asked if we were aloud to climb onto the roof and if something bad happend they wouldnt be held accountable, again they didnt care what we did, the following pictures were taken from ontop of the roof sooo we did not notice untill aaaaafter we took the picture here due to it being dark out, but the board on the window was loose and now appears that it could have been pushed in. this building was also completely abandon so all in all we did not find any tunnels, we were told some buildings in the area may still have access, these buildings from this rooftop are veeeeery close to johnson street. i shall have to return to this spot to check the loose board on the window, and again we checked the janion....still locked up tight again i realize this post in this thread is slightly off topic of tunnels, but thought id share these pictures of potential access in the basement of this building
