Hey there. I went on a mission today, and figured you may dig some of the pics I snapped. I'm no shutterbug, but I think my Nikon Coolpix P5000 & I handled things OK. Enjoy!

Here's the entire album: Link!

Cheers! :]

[Edit] Sorry for the lack of a story, but I'm very tired after this all-day journey, it's late, and I'm off to bed. I'll pop back in tomorrow & try to answer any questions which may have arisen.

You've got some decent shots in here, but they're a little small to get a very good look at them. Any way that you can upload them in a larger size? Thx.

They're much bigger if you click the pix (or follow the link & view the rest) - most are around 1200x1600.

Anyway, I figured I'd give the gallery creator a go - I've always liked how that format works here. Hope it's not too much!

The location is in one of the pictures. I don't really know any of the history, TBH, other than it was another typical mining boomtown, and it's neighbour is much more famous - this site always gets overlooked/forgotten. I imagine the pic of the old rusty goldpan is all you need to guess the history there.

That big red thingamajig in the trees - I've no idea what it is. I caught a glimpse of it on my way out, after being chased away by a bear, and wasn't in the mood to climb down there & poke around. (I was alone)

That vertical pipe - every so often it would shoot water about 5 feet into the air. The pipes are obviously still used somewhere further down - take a close look at the closeup of the horizontal pipe & you'll see some little wedges of wood that have fairly recently been jammed in to plug some leaks. (I assume) I was in the process of tracking the pipe when I ran into bear issues - made noise but couldn't scare it away, so my exploration ended there...

I also noticed an old cemetery on my way out, and took a look. I only put the more "abandoned" pics here, as it appears some locals must have fixed the place up, replacing old grave markers with new ones. Made it look a bit, well, un-UER... At least there were still a few remnants they hadn't touched yet.

Great set, love it, That looks like an old 4cyl 2 stroke generator motor, those weren't cheap, nor were they easy to deliver and assemble, or keep running.

It's actually just water, but it seems like it's under pressure. I found leaks everywhere as I started tracking it to its source, and they would intermittently spout off like a geyser or something, seemingly due to pressure buildup & release. I really had to be careful that I didn't get sprayed in a few spots where it was buried (by time) - little streams would shoot up right out of the ground. lol Perhaps I'll go back in the spring with bear protection. ;)
