| | | There was one in Cairo, IL that got torn down... there is one is Anna, IL that is partly abandoned. And there is one in Waldo, WI that is pretty cool, but last time I was there it was being guarded with barking dogs and probably a person nearby. Not the most promising, sorry.

| | | The old Detroit Hospital (the same one used in the movie '8 Mile')is located only a few hundred feet from my home. There are 2 wings to the structure. The old wing was being developed and restored for awhile, however that project seems to have been called off. The new wing (built in 1974) is vacant and utterly vandalized. At this time, the first floor has been sealed off pretty thoroughly (hell, the metal doors have been WELDED shut!!), although this was not the case last year when I entered and explored it w/ a Canadian pair of UE enthusiasts via the then wide open back door. If you would like to see some of the videos we took while inside, just access my You Tube account via this link: http://www.youtube.com/user/JohnInMi2 and click on the videos w/ the title, 'Urban Exploring August 9 2008' I hope this helps John.

| | | Riverside Osteopathic (a.k.a Eloise) in Trenton, Michigan is pretty cool. It has 2 wings - one for the actual hospital and one for various medical offices and the cafeteria, both 4 stories tall, with a hospice turned administration office in the center. From the roof you can get a pretty good view of the river. I would definitely check it out if you're in the area.

| | | Wanna hit up an active O.R. in a 60% closed hospital? E.R. is now closed, Radiology is closed. I work there :^)

| | | A bit of Eloise, MI is still standing. I drove past the Kay Beard building, which has a museum, last night and I'm pretty sure I saw the other (abandoned) buildings behind it. At least that's what their website says. (edit: just found out someone else wrote about eloise. maybe i should read posts next time. haha.) There's also the Lima TB hospital which I visited not too long ago in Lima, Ohio. Just be careful of the bitchy neighbors. My favorite hospital, Ypsi State, was torn down a few years ago... | | | There wasn't much left of Eloise when I was there in '04 - and what little there was had been locked up pretty well (and was pretty visible).

This is true. I only saw silhouettes against the streetlights, but I am definitely going back (this week probably) because the area has some amazing old motel signs. also, i want to check out that museum.

| | | I'm having a hard time remembering where this was -- it has been years since I've been by it in eastern Indiana, but an old state hospital was converted into a training center for what I believe is the National Guard. There are some buildings in disuse there. I know of another hospital that closed several years ago and is in pristine condition, but is well secured and alarmed. Not hard to get permission, though.

My cousin found one in Detroit last weekend, and I'm heading up there this weekend to check it out. I guess it's got incubators and stuff left over.. yeah. I'm freaking out, I'm so excited. I'll let you know where it is once I find out...
