| | | On the subject of West V, check this guy's website: http://www.coalcam...rustbelt/wv/wv.htm (this is one of the specific pages on the stie) I've spent hours on it, full history, and detailed maps. I'd be open to any place that has a LOT to do. There's going to be a lot of people, and will need to spread out to various sites. It would be my first Mamu so the city doesn't matter as much as the time of year... January would really be too cold wouldn't it? Inclement weather will jack with travel plans somewhere or other. The winter just here in Charlotte was nasty, and Raleigh had 6 inches in one day last January (or was it 8?) They even had snow in Atlanta and no equipment to deal with it! Everything grinds to a halt

LMAO! Exactly bro!
Plus, Frederick would be a great central location. We could spread out from there.

We already had the first MAMU in January and we didn't have a single problem. We have set MAMU to be biannual. Once in the winter and once in the summer.

| | | Mid-Atlantic people can't stomach the cold? I don't like it much myself, but with the proper attire it's doable. Dry 90o heat and crisp arid nights are my favorite weather, though. /New Englander /Ice fished in (thermometer: -5oF weather but) 30o below with windchill. /Draining in 18oF degree weather.

| | | Winter can be pretty mild around here, east of the mountains. Once you get up higher in western NC/VA/WV, though, it can get pretty bad. It's usually luck of the draw, though. I don't think anywhere in the region is inaccessible for the whole winter-- We'd only have to worry if a big storm happened to hit that weekend. So with that said, I'm cool with just about anywhere. Winter is my preferred exploring season. I like the idea of West Virginia, only because I'm familiar with the kind of exploring available out there. I could easily be persuaded to go south, though.

| | | Charleston SC has my vote. Ton of shit. Power house is not undoable. There's way more than the naval base. I would give a vote for Columbia SC, but all we really have worth the trip is asylum and sanitarium, which are now no-goes. That just leaves a lot of so-so drains, warehouses, and some small places scattered around. So, Charleston FTW.

| | | We need people willing to host! We can't vote on this until we have a few options for cities where people are willing to host. Places I'm pretty sure we could get people: Columbia, SC: Lord Nikon, Programmer, Neural Interface, that whole big USC crew, and...Scaggs? Raleigh, NC: AppleSnail, DJ Drew, Avius, uLiveYouBurn, TummyAcid And some maybe's: Atlanta, GA: Box? Mandias? DJ Malign? Baltimore, MD & Washington DC: Corley? Roland? Augusta, GA: JC? So feel free to confirm or deny yourself from my list here or add to it. But suggesting a city alone doesn't help; we need a city and a willing host. Then we can make another thread to vote on it.

| | | This thread has me laughing. First of all, SC is not part of the mid-atlantic, despite what the Canadians say. Come down here and tell me that it's the same as Maryland. Exactly. Second, Raleigh ain't got shit. Don't even talk about drains, because unless there's some Civil War-era shit with bodies, that just ain't gonna cut it. Once you've done anything in Minneapolis-St. Paul, it's all downhill from there. Third, Charleston, SC ain't got shit. I work there, not a damn thing there anymore. Trust me. And don't talk about active shit. We don't have time for that bullmess. Unless you can present something on the magnitude of Delaware, Richmond, Beth Steel, etc etc, it won't interest most of us. We've fucked the best pussy around and now we need some mind-blowing shit to bring us to climax, like hot trannies in three-ways. I'm just sayin'. But yeah, Fredrock MD is a great place to host a meet and Corley wouldn't mind hosting.

| | | Dude, if I bring a keg of Guinness and split it with you and David, will you host it then? And this time, the tap will work. I say we host an event at Lebow's and scream the N word from a loudspeaker on the rooftop and then run back to Fredrock and leave all the out-of-towners there.

| | | Why does anyone have to "host" the event, really? I don't get it. The only things to "hosting" is providing people with a place to stay and giving them a sheet with all the local locations on it and saying "go have fun". That's OPEX style anyways. Everyone provide you're own damn place to stay Motel 6 is still better than sleeping in soaking wet tent during thunderstorms. Let's throw the Saturday night party IN a fucking abandonment. You want SUM EPICKZ LOKAYSHUNS? Do you're own research or just walk/drive around. Hell maybe a few of us will find something new. It's why I like DC as the primary location. There is a lot that probably isn't even known yet; just because of the sensitivity of the area. And we can walk around with camera gear and not seem in the least bit suspicious.
