| | | | MAMU III? < on 8/16/2009 9:34 PM >
| | | So we've hit up Richmond, VA, Charlotte, NC and Johnson City, TN. Where and when will the next MAMU be? I'm guessing January? Making it bi-annual? Anyone willing to host the next MAMU in your city? If you would be willing to host a MAMU somewhere in or close to the Mid-Atlantic region, post here and tell us why your city is the shit. Knoxville? Nashville? Washington DC? Chattanooga? Memphis? Raleigh? Baltimore? Or what if it was just somewhere close to the Mid-Atlantic? ALL the big Pennsylvania cities are FULL of stuff to explore. Atlanta and Cincinnati are awesome too. Once a few people have offered to host it, I'll start another thread with a pole and we can vote on a city. And then I'm out.

| | | Raleigh. We can all construct our own Barrel Monsters, at night. We'll all drop them off all over the city at the end of the event. We'll have to get uLive a plane ticket to climb towers in Paris with Dsankt or something for an alibi though.

| | | Raleigh would be good because it's nice and close, and there's a lot to explore in the vicinity, but it's not fair to those in our Region who aren't living in NC. Two NC cities in a row... West Virginia would be interesting. I've done some 'armchair' research on some of the old mining towns- which there are a lot of. From where we are, due north on I77, six hours max. Though it would really only be fun while the weather is still decent- actually would be great if we hit it during October- when the leaves change over. Would make for some amazing pictures. Of course if you don't want it until Jan, then ok... but too cold!!

I think we have to go more in favor of where the abandonments are and not worry too much about the region...because ruling out Johnson City, Charlotte and Richmond, we don't have any really good exploring cities that are really central to the Mid-Atlantic region at least that I know of. Raleigh sounds totally good to me. Especially since it got taken out of MAMU II mainly because of the publicity from the barrel monster.

| | | We have managed to keep MAMU fairly central on the east coast. Perhaps it is time to spread out a little?
Examples: 1) Frederick, MD 2) Baltimore, MD 3) Louisville, KY 4) Huntington, WV 5) Charleston, WV 6) Charleston, SC 7) Columbia, SC
etc., etc.

Meh. Snow isn't going to stop intrepid explorers!
One thing we do have to keep in mind is that this is the "Mid Atlantic Meet Up". So we must keep the main city in the Mid Atlantic. We can certainly travel from there to locations outside of the Mid Atlantic, but the base should stay within the six Mid Atlantic states.

Pittsburg is pretty far away, being in Kansas and all. Pittsburgh on the other hand is only a couple hours away.

Kansas is only a short plane flight away. Quick, lets pool money and rent a jet for the weekend.
