Hey everyone, I haven't posted lately, mainly because I have had nothing interesting to post about... But I was lucky enough to gain access to a canoe over the weekend, so me and a friend paddled out to Cole Island.

Hey everyone, blah blah blah Cole Island.

It's a pretty decent spot. Did you see the ceiling beams in one of the buildings have been cut away? Some moron actually sawed out the 12x12 beams (or whatever ever they are...they could be 8x8 for all I know) and carted them off. Like almost all of them. Ceiling joists or whatever they're called. The thick things that keep the top of the building from caving in on you.

I saw that, but they left about 3-4 feet of each one at either end, where they meet the wall, bit of a waste of wood, especially if you went through all the trouble of sneaking out to Cole Island at night, with a ladder, breaking in to an old building, and carrying all the huge planks of wood to your boat. I would want all I could get outta that.

Yes...but that's a bad thing to dismantle a building...vandalize via actual structural dismantling...for one's own selfish gain. It's like Dude tagged the place by cutting into the thing that keeps the whole show standing. Well...not really, as it's happened and the thing is still actually standing, but you get the point. Bad, bad, bad.

That's a real shame. Those beams are worth a mint I'm sure.

Nice pic of the brick inukshuk!

Personally, I think the buildings are worth more, and once they get some sort of historical Stamp doo-hickey Official Recognition/Protection, they'll be worth even more than the mere timber used to build them.

While not in the downtown core of Victoria, I assure you, this lies within the greater Victoria region and is easily accessible. Vertical rope experience necessary.

with the right equipment caving isnt hard and not dangerous

This shows a lack of experience on your part. While risks can be greatly reduced, dangers in Caving are ever present. If it isn't hard, you haven't visit the right caves Its a sadistic sport. When an accident occurs caving, its serious. Help isn't as easy as calling an ambulance.

im aware of the dangers of caving and know they are always dangerous but with the right equipment they are greatly reduced and ive done many caves alot ive had to rappel into but if you are with a person that you work really well with and communicate i dont see how there can be many problems unless you have an accident where someone trips/ bangs their head or the cave collapses, maby this is because me and my friends work really well together and know how to watch our backs

This here is an open invitation.
Who here is willing to do some nitty-gritty storm drain explorations with me in the next two weeks? Anybody?
Please....only PM me if you've had some draining experience, and are fully aware of how to drain properly. And if you know 100% sure that claustrophobia does not affect you whatsoever. And that heavy manholes are no problem. And don't mind long backbreaker sections.
If you meet these criteria, there are some wonderful drains i would love to do with you. People seem busy, and i really haven't been able to find anybody outside of the Urbex community who is even interested in draining.

Please PM me.

Yoshkow.....where are you? Just...wondering.
