| | | Posted by SourDiesel hey im kinda new in here and have a couple questions, i was down in douglas darkie yester day and walked for a couple hours i made it pretty far down does anyone actually know how far it goes and if there are more larger rooms? you got past 2 big rooms (san juan, giant orgie room) we then continued on we got past a few man hole entrances then the pipe seemed to be getting smaller so we turned around and popped up somewhere on shelburne st, any way has anyone gone further? or down one of the small "some place" tubes? also i believe in the next week if i can get a day off im going to go under douglas street, and ross bay (1) has anyone been down there and (2) what should i look out for? thanks SD
| 1) Yes. 2) Giant translucent spiders. Unpleasant sulfates from a nearby something-or-other that evacuates waste water via the tunnel. Pointy stalactites. Satanists. The undead. Check the tide charts before you go. Then check them again, and, for good measure, check the tide charts one more time. Good luck. Let me know how it works out.

| | | OK. That's all i needed to know. Thanks, KK. I would be interested in meeting that grandpa. Not so much for what he directly saw.....but because I'm trying to find ways to get in touch with old workers. All 'official' avenues have so far yielded nothing, but other methods are...... well, i shouldn't spill the beans yet. Drains. On the maps, everything is 200mm unless otherwise noted. On old maps, sometimes large drains and san sewers are labeled in feet. On most maps, and all new maps, the big walkable drains are labeled in millimetres. (>800mm=backbreaker, 1100+= walkable). So look for drains that have really big numbers attached. First#=height, 2nd#=width. Scour the maps. There's more than what meets the eye. There's even one drain that branches off 5 times. And no, I haven't done that drain yet. (nudge, nudge, wink, wink). Metchosin. Have you seen these with your own two eyes? Please, only a yes or a no answer.....it's probably best for you to keep the details for yourself, especially if a) you found it yourself, and b)if it's something special It's probably not what I was thinking of. You see, I heard from 3 different people, a cool homeless guy who worked in the mining sector, a friendly and indescribably helpful yet (sort of....autistic-ish?) government worker who I can't stop bumping into everywhere, and a random freak who does creepy shit behind my school......they all told me that way up in the Sooke hills, in Langford, somewhere quite impenetrably deep in the woods, lies an enormous tunnel blasted out of solid rock, much like the one(s) the GCG discovered under Victoria. Apparently had to do something with the water supply system, but is now high and dry. Yet another mystery worth looking into. (And since the City of Victoria is probably reading this thread closely, I'll also add that the three people who alerted me of this Langford-Shangri-La all said that the tunnel has been impenetrably sealed for deacades and has since caved in).

| | | NinjaKlutz, I'm totally down with some joint exploration. Maybe we can check out that big ass RCP I found... still haven't been down there. | Hmm... They are doing a lot of work on the water pipes by the potholes. Maybe the workers out there have an idea of what to look for. I would imagine it would be close to the old rail right of way. Anyone know the legend about the Spanish gold and the tunnel around Leechtown? I'm pretty sure that I can penetrate the forest on my iron horse.
