Details No exploring planned, just a picnic in the park where folks will be sharing and practicing assorted interesting skills and meeting up with like-minded people. Event is outdoors and weather permitting. We'll be running from midday until whenever we run out of energy or daylight, whichever happens first. We will be safely teaching and practicing the Single Rope Technique for climbing up and rappelling down a vertical rope -this technique is used when exploring not only natural caves but also abandoned mines and all sorts of other cool vertical UE sites. With any luck there will be both a beginner's station where we can easily lower anyone who has an issue and a sort of low-ropes-course for experienced participants and quick learners. Everyone should be able to get a chance to try out the basics as well as some slightly more advanced stuff in a safe and controlled environment with expert guidance. If you own a harness or any SRT gear of your own please do bring it. There will be some locksport tools and practice locks available for folks to have a legal opportunity to try out some lockpicking. If you practice locksport please bring your tools and/or share your skills. The area offers some botanical and architectural photography opportunities. Skilled photographers will be on hand to share some of their tricks. ...and whatever else we can drum up for folks to try out! Word on the street is that there will be prizes/giveaways for people who show up and learn a new skill.
